Building Capacity for Assistive Technology in Louisiana

Our primary focus is empowering local education agencies (LEAs) to effectively integrate assistive technology (AT) into their educational programs.

We achieve this by:

Student using AAC

Building Capacity through:

Policy Development

We partner with LEAs to develop comprehensive policies and procedures that align with federal and state mandates, ensuring that AT is considered, assessed, documented, implemented, and evaluated effectively.

Building Capacity through:

Implementation Planning

We provide guidance and support in selecting, implementing, and utilizing appropriate AT tools, tailored to the specific needs of students and educators.

Building Capacity through:

Consultation and Training

Our team of experts offers consultation services and professional development opportunities to equip educators and related service providers with the knowledge and skills to effectively use AT in their classrooms and necessary environments.

Building Capacity through:

Item Loan Program

To support short-term needs, we offer a loan program for various AT devices, allowing LEAs to explore and evaluate different options before making permanent purchases.

Building Capacity for Instructional Materials for Blind or Visually Impaired in Louisiana

We are dedicated to enhancing access to educational resources for students who are blind or visually impaired. We achieve this by:

Creating and Obtaining Materials

We develop and acquire Braille materials and large print resources to ensure that students receive equal opportunities for learning and engagement in their educational journeys.

Policy Development

We collaborate with local education agencies (LEAs) to establish comprehensive policies and procedures that support this low-incidence population of students, ensuring that their unique needs are recognized and addressed.

Consultation Services

Our experts provide consultation to agencies regarding access and the presentation of instructional materials in the classroom and fostering inclusive learning environments tailored for visually impaired students.
